:: BAJA Orphanage

Let the Little Children Come orphanage and Agua Viva Day Care center are in a rural area located many miles outside of Ensenada. They provide a loving, caring environment for children who have either been abandoned by their parents or whose parents are unable to care for them during the week while they are working. The children are provided food, clothes, vitamins, school uniforms and school supplies (both mandatory in Mexico), and transportation to school. Both of these sites stress education and provide supervision for homework. Many of these children would be unable to go to school and would not have their nutritional needs met if it were not for these two agencies.

The most urgent needs are the ones that Redlands Sunrise Rotary tries to meet each month. Once a month we collect an average of $125 to $150 from our members and then purchase as much as possible to meet the greatest needs. These needs include cleaning supplies, school supplies, children's vitamins, diapers, formula, food and money. The supplies are then taken to Mexico by the Mexican Christian Children's Assoc. which distributes food and other items to a large number of orphanages in Baja.

:: Quarters for Kenya

Visit www.quartersforkenya.org for additional information.

As HIV / AIDS in Africa reaches pandemic levels, millions of children have lost both parents. 6,300 orphans of AIDS are created each day. Help AIDS orphans by joining Rotary in fighting the HIV/AIDS crisis in Kenya through your support of Quarters for Kenya. Quarter by quarter, we will build two new orphanages in Nairobi, Kenya, in the memory of Charles Kean, as we increase awareness of AIDS transmission and prevention.

:: POLIOPLUS

Visit Rotary International for additional information.

In 1985, Rotary launched the PolioPlus program to protect children worldwide from the cruel and fatal consequences of polio. In 1988, the World Health Assembly challenged the world to eradicate polio. Since that time, Rotary's efforts and those of partner agencies, including the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and governments around the world, have achieved a 99 percent reduction in the number of polio cases worldwide. Rotarians stand at the brink of a great victory and look forward to celebrating the global eradication of polio."
