Now Accepting Donations of Children's Books!
Redlands Sunrise Rotary Club’s Read For Life program is a community-based literacy program designed to put books in the hands of children. Through this program, other children and their families can share the books you have previously enjoyed with your children. To accomplished this, rather than allowing "out-grown" kids books to sit on shelves and gather dust, families are encouraged to donate those books to Read for Life so that they can be re-distributed and enjoyed by other kids in the community.
Since its inception, Read for Life has collected and distributed well over 10,000 new and previously read kids books to children in the community, and has also sent books to various parts of the globe including Mexico, Kenya, and Peru. The vast majority of the books, however, have stayed right here in our local communities.
Read for Life exists to promote literacy by providing kids free access to pleasure reading books. The right book in the hands of a child can inspire not only a love of reading, but sometimes, a passion and direction in life. Through Read for Life, Rotarians strive to make this happen as often as possible.
Read for Life is administered through the Redlands Sunrise Rotary Foundation such that donations are made to a 501(c)3 charitable organization. To donate books to the program, contact Bryan Reid at 951-323-2594 or drop off your books at any of our designated "recycle centers" listed below. |
BECOME A LITERACY PARTNER!
Redlands Sunrise Rotary Club's Read For Life!
program involves the recycling of outgrown children's books
to kids in the community. The club has established numerous
recycling centers around town where parents and kids drop
off books they have outgrown. Club members then pick up
the books, load them into our Rotary trailer and take them
to community events to give them away to other families.
This program has resulted in the collection and distribution
of thousands of books, and will remain an enduring, high-profile
community service opportunity for the club. Funding for
the program comes entirely from Redlands Sunrise Rotary
and its Literacy Partners. There is never a charge to the
children or families who receive the books.
We invite you to support this worthy and well-received program
by joining us as a Literacy Partner. For your initial donation
of $1000 and thereafter annual renewal contributions of
$200 you will not only help spread the gift of literacy
throughout the community, but will also
receive:
• Your corporate logo prominently displayed on the
Read For Life! trailer
• Recognition in promotional materials prepared in
conjunction with the program
• Your corporate logo displayed and a link to your
website on the club's website
